[email protected]Rebecca Newman Casamayor has particular expertise in representing and providing guidance to condominium and homeowners’ associations in all aspects of their governance, operations, and legal compliance. She routinely handles the various issues that regularly confront community associations, such as interpretation, drafting, and amendment of governing documents; covenant and rule enforcement; membership voting and Board elections; analysis and compliance with Florida statutes including Chapters 617, 718, and 720; developer turnover and transition of control to membership; negotiation, preparation, and review of vendor contracts; disputes, pre-suit mediation, arbitration, and lawsuits with owners, tenants, vendors and third parties; and assessment collection, liens, and foreclosures. Rebecca has also litigated lawsuits and appeals in the community association law context as well as in other areas, including cases involving business and real estate disputes, breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, construction law, probate litigation matters, shareholder’s derivative actions, and creditor’s rights in bankruptcy.
Rebecca currently serves as Chair of the Firm’s Condominium and HOA Practice Group. She frequently presents educational courses for board members and management companies regarding legislative updates and legal trends for community associations. She has also been recognized each year from 2016 through 2026 by Florida Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star”.
